L was very happy to tell everyone that he was going to be a monkey for Halloween. Of course, he can't say that in so many words. A conversation usually started around the topic of Halloween. L would then say, "Monkey" pause a bit and then say, "Nana." L's favorite part of the trick-or-treating was seeing all the spiders. A couple of times he even burst out in song, "The itsy, bitsy spider..." While the girls were in school, L and I were out and about. We had to stop to watch a front loader and then forklift at work, staying much longer without girls in tow. A big day for the whole family - kindergarten! Z and M had a great first day. They were very eager to begin at a new school. Took the ladies for a ride up to the Japanese garden. The ride was full of drama (falling off bikes, wet shoes) but a great moment for Daddy and his ladies. Doing a little 'rock climbing' in Central Park, the twins were clearly in their element. We timed it right and were able to get up the Empire State Building relatively quickly on a nearly perfect day. Vacation 2009 was in Brookville, NY at Erica and John's home. The first week we had the whole clan together and then the Repptians stayed on for an extra week. The half-Olympic pool, close proximity to the ocean and Oyster Bay (with our almost daily runs to the get Italian Ices) made this a grand vacation. The three kids played nonstop for the two weeks, running from first light until collapse in the evening.
