Barricade
Lately, the girls have been enjoying building a pillow wall to keep Linus in the dining room. One of their other favorite games is pretending that Linus is a monster, bug, or fierce animal and then running from him screaming. Given the noise level, this is not one of my favorites.

Before
Linus looked as if he would dive into his cupcake on the second try for Birthday cake, but...

After
the reaction was the same as on his birthday. His sadness must be him looking forward to a time when he will look back with regret for having had one less chocolate cupcake in his life.

I see a firetruck...
Grandma and Grandpa C. gave the boy a singing firetruck for his birthday. One of my favorite lines from the song is, "And there's a noisy siren wailing on that truck." Linus loved it from the moment he unwrapped it. As soon as he got on it he started making truck noises.

Cupcakes
The girls, Grandma, and I decorated the cupcakes for Linus' second birthday party. As is often the case, more sprinkles were consumed than went on the icing. Looking at some of these cupcakes you can see just how much that was.

The party
Clara and Chloe joined our girls to help Linus celebrate his birthday with lots of squealing.

(Sad) Birthday Boy with cake
Don't really know if all the attention and activity was just too much for him, but Linus did not want anything to do with his cake. If this is truly the case that he does not like cake, I will have to go back to the hospital to verify that this child is indeed mine.

Scratchy
Happily, Linus never does this on Mama's chin like he does with Grandpa and his other male family members.

Birthday cake
Shortly after Linus was born, in an attempt to calm a crying boy, Matthew made up a tune to the nursery rhyme "Little Boy Blue". This song then became the only thing that really would instantly calm Linus. It seems appropriate for his first birthday theme since we all have sung the song to him so many times during his first year.

The Ride Home
The girls were zonked out after walking all around the garden. The boy was not.

Bunny in the garden
Zofie decided she did not want to be at the botanical garden as we were waiting in line to park the car. She then decided that she did not want any pictures taken of herself. With a looming ultimatum she eventually discarded her surly mood for her more sunny side.

Maeta and tulips
We had beautiful weather so headed out to the botanical gardens to see all the spring blooms. Maeta, as is so often the case, was in a cheery mood.

Rub, a-dub, dub, a boy on a tub
So far this is the only thing that Linus has really climbed on. He played quite happily for a while on his perch.

First words
This morning Linus walked around repeatedly saying, "Duck, Duck", while carrying, cuddling, eating, etc. his purple friend.

Watching the weather
A midmorning thunderstorm brought all the kids to the back door where they were mesmerized into quietness by the pouring rain.
