The proto-crawl

100_2892.JPG
Zofie has mastered the proto-crawl and is moving around the apartment at her pleasure. She particularly likes the bathroom (and her bath-toys).

Maeta in Ellie's Clothes

100_2879.JPG
We received a new box of Ellie Spangler's hand-me-downs and the girls could not wait to get some wear out of Ellie's clothes.

Zofie & Andrew

100_2815.JPG
Andrew spent his spring break with us, visiting friends and playing with the girls. Zofie especially liked pulling his shaggy hair.

Even a diaper change can be fun

100_2806.JPG
Not the greatest photo--but I was after her mischievous, playful eyes. Zofie plays this game now when I am changing her where she wiggles her head and then waits for me to wiggle mine back. When I do, she gets a big smile and then starts the game again. Hard to capture while pressing sharp pins through cotton diapers.

Hiatus

As you have noticed, the pictures have been sporadic these past two weeks. The picture-taker was occupied with midterms, upcoming textbook rush and apartment shopping.

As many of you know, we have been looking at apartments these past months. On Sunday we saw one that we liked; we made an offer on it Tuesday. The rest of the week has been a whirlwind of preparations to buy the new place (mortgages and contracts) and sell the old (paint and caulk).

I am posting some back-dated photos today so that you can see these very active girls.

Daddy reading to his girls

100_2788.JPG
After a long day at work, Amy spent several more hours at the bank signing mortgage papers for a new apartment. As a result, I had the girls all day. Here we are reading their favorite book, Dogs Go....

Maeta at play

100_2786.JPG
Maeta can sit up quite well, but she has not managed a graceful transition from vertical to horizontal positions. To ease this for her, I tend to put throw pillows on the ground around where she is sitting.

OK, I probably spoil her a bit---she might learn better from the rough landing. In my defense: Baby play is their appropriate "work". We give them motor-skill-enhancing toys, letter blocks, things to count, horses to chew---all things that are as much about development as they are about fun. Now (stay with me here), if at the end of a particular development sequence, how does the baby take the equivalent of a coffee break? In my mind---this is the tumble back into the pillows.

If my workplace surrounded me with a little nest of pillows that I could lounge in once I had completed a project, my life would be far better (throw in a Hookah and dancing girls and it would be unbeatable). When I create this idealized world of learning and lounging for the babies, I am only looking out for their greater good. I'm not just trying avoid the crying when they hit their heads ... really....
