Kodak Easy Share Woes
For those of you in the market for a digital camera: Most of the pictures on this site come from a Kodak Easy Share DX4330 that we got in 2002. At the time, it was the most megapixel for the buck and has been fairly servicable. That said, we get far more blurry pictures than should be warranted---particularly when we zoom. Granted, on this end we can crop and adjust as needed, but a point-and-shoot should take nearly perfect pictures every time.Unfortunately, the much more expensive Nikon digital at work takes almost as many bad pictures and the Kodak pictures tend to be really good when we are able to avoid the blurry pitfalls. Although I doubt that I would buy a Kodak again based on this experience, I have not been too impressed with any others have seen.
I think you have to go somewhere where you can play with the cameras and see what kinds of bad pictures you can take. If I wanted to buy, I think I would take a few SD cards and pop them into the cameras at Abt (in Chicago) or whatever camera store you like and start taking pictures at the store---really putting the camera through its paces. Pull your cards, take them home and see how the pictures look on the computer and in print.
